Abstract: W niniejszym artykule podejmuję rozważania na temat wychowania międzykulturowego w rodzinie mieszanej (w ałżeństwach katolicko-żydowskich). W szczególności przyglądam się konstruowaniu różnych świeckich i religijnych wzorców dwukulturowego życia rodzinnego oraz możliwym formom i treściom międzypokoleniowego przekazu rodzinnego w dorosłym pokoleniu Żydów. Badania, przeprowadzone w latach 2018–2022, oparte zostały na metodzie biograficznej –łącznie zrealizowano 15 wywiadów pogłębionych. W artykule prezentuję jedynie fragment szerszego projektu, skupiam się na biografiach czterech kobiet pochodzenia żydowskiego – trzy z nich to przedstawicielki trzeciego pokolenia powojennego. Wszystkie zaś próbują łączyć wychowanie etniczne z dualistycznym, ze względu na typ zawartego związku dwukulturowego lub stosunek do kultury dominującej. Część analityczna stanowi krótką rekonstrukcję typu rodziny pochodzenia, autoidentyfikacji, definicji kulturowej rodziny własnej oraz argumentacji dotyczącej transmisji dziedzictwa żydowskiego każdej z kobiet. Wypowiedzi uczestniczek badań na temat sposobów celebracji podwójnych świąt zebrano w tabeli. Narratorki tworzą typ kulturowo otwarty rodziny własnej oraz w jednym przypadku typ kulturowo zdeklarowany (według klasyfikacji Alicji Szerląg).

Abstract: The article presents the biographies of representatives of the third postwar generation of Polish Jews. It attempts at reconstructing the experiences of becoming a religious Jew, choosing a Jewish path in adolescence where there is no or incomplete transmission of intergenerational cultural heritage in the family of origin. The two women's biographies were analysed in terms of independent acquisition of cultural (religious) knowledge and the possibilities and limitations of Jewish education in our country. The research was carried out based on the biographical method and unstructured/ in-depth interviews (2018-2022). Exemplifications in the form of the two biographies serve to distinguish the stages of "becoming a religious Jew and mother" in the "found generation", to show individual biographical events and common biographical sequences (mostly educational and parental).

Abstract: In this article, I discuss the issues of mixed marriages, referring to research conducted by Polish sociologists, psychologists and educators. On this basis, I try to show possible areas of conflict in this type of relationships, various strategies for working out compromises as well as various relations with the social microstructure. I emphasise problems related to bringing up children in a bi-cultural family environment, in particular aspects of bi-religious home education. My intention is also to identify potential areas of intercultural enrichment and the emergence of new cultural capital in mixed families. I also reflect on Polish- Jewish marriages by recalling the biography of a representative of the third generation of the Holocaust survivors, married to a Catholic, who has introduced, together with her husband, a model of dualistic education. The research was based on the biographical method, unstructured/in-depth interviews. The Jewish Identity of the “Unexpected Generation” in the Context of the Upbringing Model in a Mixed Family
Translated Title: W swoim artykule chciałabym przybliżyć jedno z najmłodszych pokoleń żydowskich w Polsce, zwane „nieoczekiwaną generacją”, na podstawie badań własnych oraz ustaleń innych badaczy. Jednocześnie uwzględniam istotę wychowania w rodzinie mieszanej i to, jakie niesie za sobą konsekwencje dla tożsamości społeczno-kulturowej tegoż pokolenia. Przyjrzę się sposobom konstruowania wzorów żydowskiego życia rodzinnego oraz możliwym formom i treściom rodzinnej transmisji międzypokoleniowej. Wskażę także na wyzwania i potencjalne zagrożenia, przed którymi stają dziś żydowskie rodziny mieszkające w Polsce. W efekcie postaram się wytyczyć możliwe dalsze kierunki badawcze podejmujące kwestie transmisji treści kulturowych w rodzinie, przekazu żydowskiego dziedzictwa religijnego i językowego.

Abstract: The goal of the article is to introduce one of the youngest Jewish generations in Poland, known as the “unexpected generation”, based on my own research and the findings of other researchers. At the same time, I consider the essence of upbringing in a mixed family and its consequences for the socio-cultural identity of this generation. I look at ways of constructing patterns of Jewish family life and possible forms and content of intergenerational family transmission. I also highlight challenges and potential threats faced by Jewish families living in Poland today. Consequently, I try to outline possible further research directions related to issues of cultural content transmission in a family and the transmission of Jewish religious and linguistic heritage.

Abstract: W artykule zaprezentowano wstępne wyniki badań realizowanych wśród polskich rabinów. Ich głównym celem było ustalenie wzorów żydowskiego życia rodzinnego oraz zidentyfikowanie głównych form i treści rodzinnego przekazu dziedzictwa kulturowego, pozostającego w dyspozycji rodzin religijnych. Projekt o charakterze jakościowym zakładał ustalenie czterech głównych elementów przekazu tradycji, wedle Jerzego Nikitorowicza są to: czynnościowy – mechanizmy przekazu, przedmiotowy – treści przekazywanych dóbr kultury, podmiotowy – nosiciele tradycji oraz edukacyjny. Na pierwszym etapie zrealizowano kilka wywiadów swobodnych (zbliżonych do eksperckich). Na podstawie wywiadów starano się wskazać na najistotniejsze konteksty dotyczące transmisji treści kulturowych we współczesnej rodzinie oraz istoty przekazu żydowskiego dziedzictwa religijnego i językowego.

Abstract: This paper aims to establish a framework of discursive narratives about the idea of the Polin Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Most of these narrative strategies concern the implementation of this huge project, arrangement of exhibitions, topics presented and the importance of the museum for the community of Polish Jews and Poles. The qualitative analysis of the narratives is conducted based on the content of periodicals published by the Jewish community in Poland: „Midrasz. Pismo Żydowskie” and „Chidusz. Magazyn Żydowski”. The analysis involves 11 speeches given immediately after the ceremonial opening of the Museum in 2013 and later, primarily at anniversary celebrations.

Abstract: In my paper, I would like to focus on the achievements of researchers studyingthe Jewish community and culture in Poland. In recent decades, there havebeen numerous publications in this area. It must be admitted that most ofthem are historical works. However, I would like to draw attention to slightlydispersed studies in the field of social sciences (sociology, psychology, peda-gogy). Who are the researchers who deal with Jewish themes? What are thecommon and individual elements of their scientific approaches? Are all ofthese elements part of the discourse of research on the ‘renaissance of theJewish community and identity’? I would like to look at the explorations ofboth researchers connected with the Jewish environment and ‘outsiders’ (in-cluding young foreign researchers interested in Polish Jews). The scope oftheir research is therefore quite diverse and includes issues such as: buildingJewish identity and institutional structures; religious life and the activities ofreligious and secular associations; relations with dominant culture; informaleducation, Jewish education and family upbringing.

Abstract: The article presents the results of biographical research, the subject of which are two
generations of Jewish young people (the so-called “found generation”, born 1972–1984, and
the first generation of graduates of the Jewish school of the R. Lauder Foundation, born 1988–
1992). It focuses on the methods of constructing the socio-cultural identity: components of the
modern Jewish identity, attitudes to being a Polish citizen, and criteria of Israeli nationality.
The article analyses also the role of a new identity-forming factor: the formal education in the
Lauder-Morash school in Warsaw: an institution which has an ethnic character and which
significantly facilitates acquiring Jewish cultural competences, but which, being multi-cultural
in practice, at the same time promotes and open and two-cultural identity.

Abstract: This paper shortly summerizes the history of jewish religious education in Poland – from the beginning in the XV century on the Polish lands, its growth during the XIX period, its domination between First and Second World War and finally total destruction in 1968. It took 28 years before it was possible to open a Jewish secular elementary school in Warsaw (1996), thanks to the assistance from the Ronald Lauder Foundation. Four years later, on initiative of Jews in Wrocław the Lauder Etz-Chaim elementary school was founded in this city. Democratization of social life in Poland after 1989 contributed to the change in Jews attitudes to their national descent. For many, their ‘Jewishness’, which now can be spoken about openly, has become the object of profound interest, intellectual search or the way to stress one’s individuality. As a result, we can also observe the process of rebuilding Jewish religious life and forming sunday’s schools, cheders and “Talmud academies” at Jewish Community in Warsaw, Krakow, Lodz, Gdansk and Wrocław (rather as a part of informal education, non- orthodox, more or less religious and adapted to modern jewish life-style in European diaspora).

Autorka uzyskała bardzo ciekawe wyniki, które mogą posłużyć organizatorom procesu kształcenia etnicznego w refleksji nad funkcjonowaniem placówek kształcenia mniejszości oraz tworzeniem planów ich rozwoju w kontekście dostosowywania ich do potrzeb społecznych wszystkich uczestników edukacji.
