Abstract
Le système démocratique allemand repose sur une non-séparation entre religion et État, dans des modalités différentes de celui de la laïcité française. Selon ce modèle, l’accueil des populations immigrées implique l’affiliation à une institution religieuse. C’est dans ce contexte politique qu’ont été accueillis les juifs russophones à partir des années 1990. Pour des communautés juives sur le déclin en ex-Allemagne de l’Est, cette immigration fut salutaire mais a bouleversé le fonctionnement établi. Au début des années 2000, des scissions religieuses entre jeunes et adultes caractérisaient les communautés, invitant à considérer un phénomène de retour à la religion. Sur un plan sociologique, ce phénomène ne touche qu’une petite partie de la population migrante, ce qui laisse entrevoir dans cette expressivité religieuse un schéma d’adaptation à la société allemande.
Translated Abstract
The German democratic system is based on a non-separation of church and state, at least in terms that differ from French secularism. Under this model, the welcome of immigrant populations involved affiliation with a religious institution. This political context greeted Russian-speaking Jews from the 1990s on. This immigration was beneficial but also came to upset an established social order for Jewish communities in decline in former East Germany. In the early 2000s, religious schisms between youth and adults characterized these communities, highlighting the phenomenon of a return to religion. On a sociological level, this phenomenon affects only a small portion of the migrant population, which suggests that this religious expression reflects a larger pattern of adaptation to German society.
