Abstract

This paper examines European society in relation to the Jews who lived there. Following the history of antisemitic ideas in Europe, it deals with the contradictory currents in European-Jewish relations. In light of current unfortunate events it poses the question whether a European madness reflected in antisemitism might be developing or is more likely to be contained.
