Abstract
Als erstes jüdisches Gymnasium in Deutschland nach dem Nationalsozialismus war der Jüdischen Oberschule zur Eröffnung 1993 Aufmerksamkeit gewiss. Die Schule startete mit 27 Kindern. Heute besuchen mehr als 400 junge Menschen das Gymnasium - Zeit, Bilanz zu ziehen und zu fragen, wie die Schule die Identität ihrer Schülerschaft geprägt hat. In ausführlichen Interviews ergründen 23 Ehemalige, was ihnen die Jüdische Oberschule bedeutet. Ergänzt um eine historische Einführung und vier Fallporträts entsteht so das Bild einer einzigartigen Bildungseinrichtung. Sandra Anusiewicz-Baer gelingt zugleich eine Darstellung der Bedingungen und Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten jungen jüdischen Lebens in Deutschland heute.
Translated Abstract
As the first Jewish grammar school in Germany after the national socialism the Jewish high school for the opening in 1993 was certain attention. The school started with 27 children. Today, more than 400 young people attend high school - time to take stock and ask how the school has shaped the identity of their students. In extensive interviews, 23 alumni explore what the Jewish secondary school means to them. Complemented by a historical introduction and four case portraits, this creates the image of a unique educational institution. At the same time, Sandra Anusiewicz-Baer succeeds in portraying the conditions and design possibilities of young Jewish life in Germany today.
