Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie specyfiki form pracy lubelskiego Ośrodka „Brama Grodzka – Teatr NN” w kontekście upamiętniania i popularyzowania wiedzy o historii społeczności żydowskiej miasta. Odtwarzając proces powstawania i przekształcania prezentowanej w Ośrodku wystawy, autorka podkreśla rolę pustki, która pozostała po Żydach zgładzonych w czasie II wojny światowej i analizuje wpływ doświadczeń teatralnych twórcy Ośrodka na dobór i kształt stosowanych narracji o przeszłości. Omawia imperatyw przywracania podmiotowości tym, którzy zginęli oraz analizuje etyczny i symboliczny charakter procesów upamiętniania. Uwzględnia rolę misteriów pamięci i znaczenie gromadzenia świadectw (historii mówionych, ikonografii) tworzących trwałe repozytorium wiedzy o mieście.
Translated Abstract
The article addresses the issue of the specific forms of work realized in Lublin’s “Grodzka Gate–NN Theater” Center in the field of commemorating and popularizing knowledge about the history of the city’s Jewish community. By reconstructing the process of creating and transforming the exhibition presented at the Center, the author highlights the role of the void left by the Jews who were exterminated during World War II and analyzes the impact of the founder’s theatrical experiences on the selection and shape of narratives about the past. The imperative of restoring the subjectivity of those who perished is discussed, along with an analysis of the ethical and symbolic nature of commemoration processes. It considers the role of memory mysteries and the importance of collecting testimonies (oral histories, iconography) that form a permanent repository of knowledge about the city.
