Abstract

“Antisemitism among Muslims” is a regular topic in antisemitism debates. An exclusive focus on the topic helps to exonerate the (German) majority society of its history of antisemitism. At the same time, antisemitism is demonstrably present among many Muslims and sometimes has specific characteristics.

In education, the context of Germany as a “post-migration society” is prominent in the professional discourse, and most migrants in Germany come from countries with Muslim majorities. However, given the political discourse on antisemitism, it might seem sur-prising that Muslim antisemitism has hardly been investigated as a topic of education. This article provides an initial overview of how the topics of antisemitism and Muslims are addressed in the (few) educational materials and concepts available. A content-related typology is outlined. Not all the materials offer insights into the reasons given by Muslims for their negative, neutral, or positive attitudes towards Jews or the State of Israel. This aspect is identified as an important desideratum for reflective educational opportunities
