Abstract
Contrairement aux prolifiques études hébraïques, juives et séfardites sur le passé, les institutions universitaires espagnoles s'intéressent assez peu à l'étude des communautés juives actuelles. Dans les pages qui suivent, l’accent sera mis sur ce que pourrait être la promotion des études juives contemporaines en Espagne et sur la signification et les enjeux à la fois scientifiques, intellectuels et socio-culturels de cette promotion. Quatre paramètres fondamentaux sont pris en compte. En premier lieu, la recherche académique et scientifique longtemps tournée vers le passé évolue lentement et amorce aujourd’hui une ouverture sur les études contemporaines. D’un autre côté, le patrimoine monumental juif fait l'objet d'une active réhabilitation et promotion de la part des institutions et entités publiques espagnoles (avec, dans certains cas, le soutien d’organismes juifs internationaux). En troisième lieu, la réalité sociale/sociologique du judaïsme espagnol contemporain est dynamique et de plus en plus visible. Enfin, et comme toile de fond incontournable, le regard social des Espagnols envers les Juifs et le fait juif ne doit pas être négligé.
Translated Abstract
Contrarily to their prolific Hebraic, Jewish and Sefardite studies on the past, Spanish academic institutions show little interest in present day's Jewish communities. The emphasis will be laid here on the recent promotion of contemporary Jewish studies in Spain, its significance and its scientific, intellectual and sociocultural stakes. Four main parameters are taken into account, with first of all the slow evolution of an academic and scientific research long turned towards the past but nowadays opening on contemporary studies, and on the other hand, an active rehabilitation and promotion of Jewish monumental heritage by Spanish public institutions (with, in a few cases, the support of Jewish international organizations). The dynamic sociological reality — more and more visible — of Spanish contemporary Judaism and, as an unavoidable background, the social look of Spaniards upon the Jewish fact cannot be ignored.
