Abstract

This paper attempts to describe Hassidism in France today within
its historical and sociological context. That country's hassidic
movement is in fact limited to only one group: the Lubavitch, who
have displayed a remarkable and astonishing dynamism in the heart of a
population which has not in the past been drawn to any form of
Hassidism
