Abstract

Since the time of the Roman Empire, even before the Hungarian tribes (then called the Magyar) conquered the land, Jews have lived in Hungary. Today, Hungary is host to the sixth largest Jewish community in Europe. In this book the Jewish-Hungarian lifestyle and the major events of its community from its beginnings to the present are organized into coherent annals, including even the indexed geography of people and places to complement the various photographs, illustrations, and a bibliography offering further reading.
