Abstract

After having described the private schooling system in France and situated the Jewish day-schools within it, an analysis of their various identity proposals is drawn. The typology continuum runs from the "ultra-orthodox" pole to the "cultural judaism" one, through the "modern orthodoxy" central position. Criteria of their differentiation are then proposed, whose main factors are: gender, relationship towards historicity and modernity.
