Abstract

Translated Abstract
„When I speak of education after Auschwitz, I mean two areas: education in childhood, especially early childhood; general enlightenment, which creates an intellectual, cultural, and social climate that does not allow for repetition-a climate in which the motives that led to the horror become somewhat conscious.“ (Adorno: Education after Auschwitz, 1966)
With regard to Adorno's statement, this short article deals with the question of the extent to which primary school is and has been taken into account as a learning place for anti-Semitism-critical education in the educational policy and social context. For this purpose, educational materials and approaches (available online) are reviewed to determine whether primary school is being considered. Furthermore, the question of the general importance and appreciation of primary education and its teachers is raised and a striking direct connection between anti-Semitism education and Holocaust education is described.
This text discusses whether and how critical education against antisemitism or even prevention of antisemitism in primary school can succeed outside of Holocaust Education.
