Abstract
Im Skandal um die Documenta 15 im Jahr 2022 ging es im Kern, so die Herausgeber des Bandes, um die Frage nach der ikonischen Figur von Ausbeutung, Vertreibung und Vernichtung: Welche Gruppe beansprucht diese Rolle heute für sich – im politischen Streit um Hegemonie und Dekolonialisierung, um universelle Menschenrechte und individuelle Befreiungsimperative? Leben wir in Zeiten, in denen das Bild vom »unschuldigen Juden« durch das vom »unschuldigen Sklaven« ersetzt wird?
Der Band analysiert die ganze Dynamik des postkolonialen Diskurses um Rede- und Beschweigungsrechte, um grundlegende Darstellungstabus und notwendige Sichtbarmachungen, um Verdammung von Judenhass und Empörung über Rassismus rund um die Documenta 15. Berücksichtigt werden dabei auch die unmittelbare Vorgeschichte der Kunstschau, die Rolle der Stadt Kassel als »documenta-Stadt«, der Stellenwert von »Israelkritik« im postkolonialen Diskurs sowie die Frage nach den Grenzen von Kunst und die damit verbundenen Vorstellungen von Antisemitismus und Postkolonialität.

According to the volume's editors, the core of the Documenta 15 scandal in 2022 was the question of the iconic figure of exploitation, displacement and extermination: Which group claims this role today – in the political dispute over hegemony and decolonization, over universal human rights and individual liberation imperatives? Do we live in times when the image of the »innocent Jew« is replaced by that of the »innocent slave«? The volume analyses the entire dynamics of the postcolonial discourse surrounding the rights of speech and silence, fundamental taboos on representation and necessary visualizations, the condemnation of hatred of Jews and outrage over racism surrounding Documenta 15. The immediate prehistory of the art exhibition, the role of the city of Kassel as »documenta city«, the importance of »criticism of Israel« in postcolonial discourse as well as the question of the limits of art and the associated ideas of anti-Semitism and postcoloniality.
