Hvordan kan undervisning om Holocaust bidra til innsikt og refleksjon snart 80 år etter krigen?
Dagens elever tilhører en generasjon som knapt nok har hørt historier om annen verdenskrig fra familiemedlemmer som har opplevd den, men der mange har ulike kulturelle referanser i bagasjen, og fått med seg fortellinger om krigen fra bøker og film.
I denne boken setter forfatterne søkelyset på de didaktiske problemstillingene og dilemmaene som temaet Holocaust bringer med seg til klasserommet. I bokens åtte kapitler utforskes ulike sider ved det å undervise om Holocaust. Boken berører også undervisning om folkemordet mot norske rom, og forholdet mellom undervisning om Holocaust og andre folkemord.
Bidragene er basert på fersk forskning og forfatternes lange erfaring med undervisning i skole og lærerutdanning. De beskriver nyttige didaktiske perspektiver, gode undervisningsstrategier og metoder, men belyser også fallgruver som bør unngås.

Today's students belong to a generation that has barely heard stories about World War II from family members who experienced it, but where many have different cultural references in their baggage, and have learned stories about the war from books and films.
In this book, the authors shine a spotlight on the didactic issues and dilemmas that the topic of the Holocaust brings to the classroom. The book's eight chapters explore different aspects of teaching about the Holocaust. The book also touches on teaching about the genocide against Norwegian Roma, and the relationship between teaching about the Holocaust and other genocides.
The contributions are based on recent research and the authors' long experience with teaching in schools and teacher education. They describe useful didactic perspectives, good teaching strategies and methods, but also highlight pitfalls that should be avoided.
