Im Kalenderjahr 2023 hat die Antisemitismus-Meldestelle der Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde Wien (IKG) insgesamt 1.147 antisemitische Vorfälle registriert. Dies entspricht im Vergleich zum Vorjahr (719 Vorfälle) einem Anstieg um 59,5 %, womit die Zahl der Vorfälle auch das bisherige Negativrekordjahr 2021 (965 Vorfälle) in den Schatten stellt. Geprägt war 2023 vom Großangriff palästinensischer Terrororganisationen auf Israel am 7. Oktober und dem explosionsartigen Anstieg von Antisemitismus weltweit in der Folge. Das genozidale Massaker stellt einen dramatischen Wendepunkt dar: Bis 6. Oktober sank die durchschnittliche Zahl der Meldungen pro Tag im Vergleich zu 2022 (1,97) auf 1,55. Für die Zeit von 7. In the calendar year 2023, the anti-Semitism reporting center of the Jewish Community of Vienna (IKG) registered a total of 1,147 anti-Semitic incidents. This corresponds to an increase of 59.5% compared to the previous year (719 incidents), meaning that the number of incidents also dwarfs the previous negative record year of 2021 (965 incidents). 2023 was marked by the major attack on Israel by Palestinian terrorist organizations on October 7th and the subsequent explosive increase in anti-Semitism worldwide. The genocidal massacre represents a dramatic turning point: by October 6th, the average number of reports per day fell to 1.55 compared to 2022 (1.97). For the period from October 7th to December 31st, there was a fivefold increase to 8.31 anti-Semitic incidents per day.
