Abstract
מחקר זה משקף את ההבנה שאחת הדרכים לאפיין 'זהות אישית', היא להתייחס אליה כאל הסיפור שאדם מספר אודות עצמו, הן לעצמו והן לאחרים. הזהות היא סיפור היוצר זהות ומבטא זהות. סיפורי זהות שונים בין אנשים שונים, וכמובן בין קהילות או אזורים שונים. מודעות למגוון העצום המאפיין את הקיום היהודי בזמננו, מחייבת מודעות לגיוון העצום שבסיפורי הזהות האופייניים בקהילות יהודיות שונות ברחבי העולם. המחקר מתמקד בשתי קהילות יהודיות, אחת במקסיקו [מקסיקו סיטי] והאחרת באוזבקיסטן [טשקנט], המרוחקות זו מזו אלפים רבים של קילומטרים וממוקמות בסביבות חברתיות ותרבותיות שונות עד מאד. מטרת המחקר היא, עמידה על המאפיינים של הזהות היהודית בקרב בני נוער יהודיים בעולם, ועל הגורמים המעצימים והמחלישים זהות זו בשנות החיים בהן מתעצבת זהותו הבוגרת של האדם.
Translated Abstract
This publication reflects the insight that one way to characterize “personal identity” is to regard it basically as the story one tells oneself and others about oneself. Identity is a story that generates as well as expresses identity. Stories of identity differ from person to person and obviously from one community or region to another. Awareness of the immense diversity characteristic of current Jewish existence entails an awareness of the large variety of identity stories typical of different Jewish communities around the world. This study focuses on two Jewish communities, one in Mexico City and the other in Tashkent, separated by thousands of miles and situated in very different social and cultural environments. The study aims at highlighting features of Jewish identity among Jewish adolescents around the world, and the factors which strengthen and weaken this identity at a stage of life in which one’s adult identity is being shaped.
