Abstract
Deze rapportage toont de ontwikkelingen van racisme, antisemitisme en extreemrechts geweld in Nederland tot en met 2016. Dit onderzoek wordt voor het zesde jaar uitgevoerd door het Verwey-Jonker Instituut, in opdracht van de Anne Frank Stichting. Opvallend resultaat is de daling in 2016 van racisme, moslimdiscriminatie en extreemrechts geweld, na de opleving in 2015. Ook het antisemitisme daalde in 2016, hoewel antisemitisch schelden wel weer vaker voorkwam. Dit rapport bevat, naast een beschrijving van deze resultaten, ook een apart hoofdstuk over de dynamiek van antisemitische en racistische incidenten in strafzaken. De basis voor deze cijfers zijn de registraties van de politie over incidenten die plaatsvonden in 2016. De verbeterde koppeling van deze gegevens aan de registraties van het Openbaar Ministerie laat zien dat het aantal uitspraken door de rechtbank op basis van discriminatiewetgeving nog altijd gering is.

This report shows the developments of racism, anti-Semitism and right-wing extremist violence in the Netherlands up to and including 2016. This research is being carried out for the sixth year by the Verwey-Jonker Institute, commissioned by the Anne Frank House. A noticeable result is the decline in 2016 of racism, Muslim discrimination and right-wing extremism, after the upturn in 2015. Anti-Semitism also fell in 2016, although anti-Semitic abuse was more common. In addition to a description of these results, this report also contains a separate chapter on the dynamics of anti-Semitic and racist incidents in criminal cases. The basis for these figures is the police records of incidents that took place in 2016. The improved link between these data and the registrations of the Public Prosecution Service shows that the number of court rulings is still small on the basis of discrimination legislation.
