Het is bijna tien jaar geleden dat 'De Joden in Nederland anno 2000' het licht zag. Dat boek bevatte de resultaten van een omvangrijk onderzoek waarin zowel de demografische kenmerken van de groep als haar binding aan het Jodendom een plaats vonden. Dit boek is daarop een vervolg. De oorspronkelijke steekproef werd aangevuld met leden van de volgende generatie. De overdracht van Joodse binding van ouders op kinderen en de Joodse binding van jongeren vormen dan ook belangrijke onderwerpen van deze publicatie.
