Translated Abstract

The arts are places of imagination and therefore assume a specific function in the history and present of anti-Semitism. It is the arts that invent anti-Semitic images and stories of Jews that are so formative that they overwrite the existence and history of real Jews. This volume introduces various forms of antisemitism and asks how these manifest themselves in the history and present of the visual arts, literature, theater, and music. Current debates that shape the understanding of anti-Semitism in culture are also addressed. It concludes with practical guides for cultural institutions on the topics of event disruptions and public relations. This is the first fundamental work that is aimed at everyone who works in artistic contexts and wants to deal with the topic of anti-Semitism.
