Analog zu anderen Sozialräumen zeigen sich auch im organisierten Fußball Kontinuitäten antisemitischer Erscheinungsformen. Jüdisch wahrgenommene Personen tragen das Risiko, mit subtilen oder offen-aggressiven Vorfällen konfrontiert zu werden. Trotz der unbestrittenen Existenz des Phänomens ist in der Fußballlandschaft noch immer zu beobachten, dass Antisemitismus entweder als abgeschlossenes Problem der NS-Zeit angesehen oder verkürzt als Teil von Rassismus subsumiert wird. Dies speist sich unter anderem aus unrealistischen Verbandsstatistiken und Leerstellen in der sozialwissenschaftlichen Forschung. Antisemitismus findet im Fußball also statt, bleibt aber oft unsichtbar.
Die Autorinnen und Autoren beschreiben verschiedene Perspektiven auf das Phänomen. In seiner Gesamtheit geht der Band über das Terrain einer bloßen Bestandsaufnahme hinaus und vermittelt praxisnahe Handlungsstrategien zum Umgang mit Antisemitismus im Fußball – auf individueller wie institutioneller Ebene.

Similar to other social spaces, organized football also exhibits continuities in antisemitic manifestations. People perceived as Jewish are at risk of being confronted with subtle or overtly aggressive incidents. Despite the undeniable existence of the phenomenon, it is still observed in the football landscape that antisemitism is either viewed as a closed problem of the Nazi era or simplistically subsumed under the umbrella of racism. This is fueled, among other things, by unrealistic statistics from football associations and gaps in social science research. Antisemitism therefore exists in football, but often remains invisible.
The authors describe different perspectives on the phenomenon. As a whole, the volume goes beyond a mere inventory and provides practical strategies for dealing with antisemitism in football – on both an individual and institutional level.
