Abstract
This essay investigates the engagement of Jews with Irish Catholic society, and of Irish society with the Jewish community through the personal experiences of individuals who either grew up within the Irish Jewish community or joined it more recently through immigration or conversion; questions of Jewish and Irish identity and boundaries; what the decline in formal Catholicism means for the Jewish community; and the 'performance' of Judaism in Irish society past, present and future.
