Abstract
The proposed study is focusing on the Jewish text in Daugavpils (the largest city in the southeastern part of Latvia – Latgale) in the 1970s–1990s. Within the project, a field research with interviews has been carried out. The present study considers a specific pattern of calendar holidays observed within a Jewish family during the Soviet period. In the narrative of childhood memories of the Soviet period, the celebration of holidays became a sign of belonging to Jewish culture. It is characteristic that the celebration of those holidays was not connected with the tradition or religion in general, and that complied with the Soviet ideology.
