Abstract

This essay presents and interprets the fundamentals of Haredi demography. How many Haredi Jews exist? What forces account for the change in size and relative weight of this population among Jews, on the global scale? How is Haredi demography different from the demography of other Jewish and non-Jewish populations? This is not the first time that these questions have been addressed systematically but, really, that very first time was not that long ago.
