Abstract

The Russian history of antisemitism is discussed through Putin’s relationship with Judaism and his political maneuvering between philosemitism and antisemitism. In the Russian context, Putin has expressed many Jew-friendly statements. However, the wars in Ukraine and Gaza have changed the tone to balance between the personal attachment to Lubovitch Judaism and political urges to blame Zelensky, a proxy Jew installed by the U.S.
