Les convertis noirs au Judaïsme en France
Black converts to Judaism in France
Conversions to Judaism are still under researched in France, but Black converts, hailing from African countries or Caribbean islands, are among the most invisible. They are to be found in all the branches of Judaism and their life stories reflect a variety of experiences. This contribution explores their individual profiles at the intersection of religion
and race, the ways in which their conversions connect them to the French Jewry and prompts them to reconstruct their identities. What are their choices and motivations and how do they carve a place for themselves in the French Jewry ?
