Abstract
À partir de données de sondage, cet article relativise la montée d’une « nouvelle judéophobie » qui serait fondée sur la diabolisation d’Israël et du sionisme, et portée par la conjonction d’un islamisme radical et d’une extrême gauche tiers-mondiste. En France du moins les opinions antisémites déclarées sont plutôt en recul. Le rejet des Juifs reste corrélé aux autres formes de racisme et associé aux mêmes facteurs (faible niveau socioculturel et orientation politique de droite ou d’extrême droite). Et cet antisémitisme apparaît relativement indépendant du degré de sympathie/antipathie exprimée envers les protagonistes du conflit israélo-palestinien, Ariel Sharon et Yasser Arafat.
Translated Abstract
Drawing on data from various surveys, this article relativizes the oft-mooted rise of a “new Judeophobia” : the demonization of Israel and Zionism by both radical Islamism and the pro-Third World extreme left. In France, at least, outspoken anti-Semitism is on the decline. Anti-Jewish sentiment remains correlated with other forms of racism and associated with the same factors: low socio-economic status, right-wing or extreme right-wing political orientation. Moreover, this anti-Semitism appears relatively independent of the degree of sympathy/antipathy expressed for the protagonists in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Ariel Sharon and Yasser Arafat.
