This article is excerpted from a research paper originally presented at the "Heritage in Transition Conference: The Study of Jews in Canada," held at York University in June 1998. The author explores the unique value that can be provided by elderly volunteers, and discusses the reasons older adults have for volunteering. She reviews the relevant literature and shares information gathered from a focus group to justify her conclusions. In Jewish Education News, Summer 2005.
