Abstract

Berkowitz refutes the claim that neoconservatism is an intrinsically Jewish school of politics and ideas on the basis that, despite the fact that Jews are disproportionately represented in and played a leading role in originating neoconservatism, it does not rest on Jewish premises or seek to advance specifically Jewish goals. Rather, Berkowitz explains, the founding premise of neoconservatism is that liberal democracy in America is a great good. He goes on to describe the tension between neoconservatives and liberals as well as between neoconservatives and conservatives.
