Abstract
Working under the guidance of UJA-Federation's Department of Government and External Relations; the Caring Commission and its Children, Youth, and Families Task Force; and the Task Force on People with Disabilities, Dr. Marvin Ciporen has documented and analyzed the explosive growth in the number of individuals diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum and their need for extensive and costly services. He has also identified the programs currently available to them in our service system. This report lays out an array of recommendations about what we as service providers and as a caring community need to do to help support and assist individuals with autism (and their families) to cope and flourish. We also believe that the report's findings and recommendations will be useful to service providers and policymakers beyond the UJA-Federation network.
