Abstract
Tekst proponuje refleksję nad problematyką antropologicznego „zwrotu ku rzeczom”, stawia pytanie dotyczące ograniczeń radykalnie podmiotowego traktowania przedmiotów, opowiadania ich „biografii” w całkowitym oderwaniu od „ludzkiej” perspektywy. Uważamy, że w odniesieniu do przedmiotów historycznych pozostałych po polskich Żydach, którzy zginęli podczas Zagłady, takie ograniczenia istnieją i ten aspekt w oglądzie historii danej rzeczy powinien pozostawać centralny. W artykule podejmujemy próbę wskazania, w wypadku których obiektów z kolekcji Muzeum POLIN jest on centralny. Pomocna okazuje się kategoria przedmiotu „pozagładowego” i „pożydowskiego”, tj. takiego, z którym Żydzi mieli bezpośredni kontakt w czasie Zagłady.
Translated Abstract
The text provides a reflection on the issue of the anthropological ‘return to things’ and raises the question of the lim-itations of a radically subjective treatment of objects, of telling their ‘biographies’, in complete detachment from the ‘human’ perspective. Our contention is that such limitations exist with regard to historical artefacts left behind by Polish Jews who perished during the Holocaust, and that this aspect should remain central in viewing the history of particular objects. In this article, an attempt is made to identify the objects in the POLIN Museum collection in which this aspect is central. The categories of ‘post-Holocaust’ and ‘post-Jewish’ objects – that is, those with which Jews had direct contact during the Holocaust –prove helpful in this regard.
