Abstract
Thus essay is a reaction to a book (its shortened version was published in «Diasporas» in 2006, № 3, 2007, № 3) of a well-known French sociologist Michel Wievorka «Tempted by Anti-Semitism. Hatred Towards Jews in Present-Day France». Proceeding from findings of M. Wievorka and results of her own research and numerous materials collected by the other scholars, the author analyzes varieties of anti-Semitism in present-day Russia. Another goal of the article is to reveal the roots of this phenomenon and its impact on self-identification of the people of the Jewish origin.
