Abstract

The author examines a story in the Babylonian Talmud (Avodah Zarah 19a) and extrapolates lessons for modern Jewish educators. She addresses issues such as the degree to which students should determine their own curriculum content, and ways in which teachers should intervene in classroom disputes.
