Abstract
In the American kaleidoscope, virtually no minority has been more colorful than the Jews, whose integration into a culture that they themselves have helped to transform has been especially conspicuous in the postwar are. The distinctiveness of the Jewish impact has also weakened the sense of difference that has historically defined Jewish identity itself.
