Abstract
В статье изложены культурно-исторические предпосылки появления сборника статей «История евреев на Украине и в Белоруссии. Экспедиции. Памятники. Находки». Этот сборник вышел в свет в 1994 г. Он стал третьим научным сборником, посвященным иудаике в России, и первой книгой на русском языке, полностью сконцентрированной на полевых исследованиях культуры евреев на постсоветском пространстве, а именно в Украине и Белоруссии. В сборнике подведены итоги экспедиций, организованных Петербургским еврейским университетом в 1988–1993 гг. В статье также проанализирована структура сборника. Авторы сборника уделили наибольшее внимание выявлению, описанию и изучению памятников еврейской старины. Отдельный раздел был посвящен фольклору и устной истории. В статье показано, что основные публикации в сборнике «История евреев на Украине и в Белоруссии. Экспедиции. Памятники. Находки» заложили фундамент будущих направлений исследовательской работы. Обсуждается роль Петербурга как места зарождения исследований в области культуры и языка евреев Восточной Европы, а также историческая преемственность по отношению к знаменитым экспедициям С. А. Ан-ского, которые также были организованы в Петербурге в 1912–1914 гг
Translated Abstract
The paper outlines the cultural and historical background to the publication of the collection of articles entitled “The History of Jews in Ukraine and Belarus. Expeditions. Monuments. Findings”. This collection was published in 1994. It became the third scientific collection of articles devoted to the Jewish studies in Russia and the first book in Russian entirely focused on field research into Jewish culture in the post-Soviet space, namely in Ukraine and Belarus. The collection summarizes the results of expeditions organized by the Petersburg Jewish University in 1988–1993. The paper also analyzes the structure of the collection. The authors of the collection paid the most attention to identifying, describing, and studying monuments of Jewish antiquity. A separate section was devoted to folklore and oral history. The article shows that the main publications in the collection “History of the Jews in Ukraine and Belarus. Expeditions. Monuments. Findings” laid the foundation for future directions of the research work. The paper discusses the role of St. Petersburg as the birthplace of research into the culture and language of Eastern European Jewry, as well as the historical continuity with the famous S.A. Ansky expeditions also organized in St. Petersburg in 1912–1914
