Abstract:
This annotation scheme and guide were developed as part of ‘Digitaler Hass’, an interdisciplinary project of Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (HTW) Berlin and Alice Salomon University (ASH) Berlin, that studies antisemitism, racism and conspiracy theories in online text corpora. The central goal of this document is to facilitate the annotation of online texts such as those published via messenger services or social media platforms with regard to occurrences of antisemitic and conspiracy theoretical statements. We have focused on narratives that are typical of pandemics such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The examples in the guide are mostly in German, as one of the goals of the project is to foster research based on large German-language corpora.
