Abstract: This chapter tracks how memories and imaginings of the Holocaust have been used at a state level in Britain in recent years. It demonstrates how this process became inexorably tied to ideas of nation and notions of nationhood, with Holocaust memory and education employed to buttress conceptions of ‘Britishness’ and ‘British values’. It traces shifts in mnemonic discourse at a state level, and maps these onto broader trends and issues which emerged with the advent of ‘Brexit’. It concludes with some tentative remarks about possible future developments.
