Abstract: 1989 is a turning point for Jewish communities in Germany and Poland. A strong internationalization and diversification can be observed in both societal discourses and autobiographical writings. Applying the concepts of non-spaces and topophilia, the article is based on the assumption that recent literature actively seeks for a positive reimagination of Jewish spaces. Through explorations of the family memory and a critical examination of past private, public, and religious spaces, the authors affirm their place in their countries and try to break free from past-centered narratives.
