Abstract:
Jewish immigration to Israel - or aliyah in Hebrew - has played a key role in the formation of Israel's population, economy, culture and society. While only 1% of all Jewish immigrants to the country have come from the UK, they are part of a much larger demographic story which shows Israel's Jewish population growing while the population in the Jewish diaspora declines. The report investigates the demographic and socio-economic profiles of recent immigrants from the UK, and looks at how their decision to live in Israel affects both the population of Israel and the Jewish population in Britain.
