Abstract:
The Jewish ethnic community of Bashkortostan developed in the span of almost 150 years and is composed of the descendants of aborigines, whose access to the inner provinces was granted by the decree of the emperor, and the migrants of the first and second world wars. At different stages throughout the history of the Jews of Bashkortostan, there were multiple multidirectional ethnic processes occurring due to varying social-economic, social-political, and language-cultural conditions. Nowadays integration of Jews in the greater culture of Bashkortostan is a process of erosion and assimilation which will plague the Jewish identity far into the future.
