Abstract:
Antisemitism in French schools and universities has reached a worrying level. Its more spectacular manifestations are an increasing physical and verbal violence against Jewish pupils, as well as an unbearable pressure exerted upon teachers who try to lecture about the Shoah and the Second World War. The phenomenon is deeply-rooted and not essentially limited to the Israeli-Arab conflict. Antisemitism in French schools is symptomatic of a social and identity crisis which may endanger the Republic and its fundamental values.
