Spotlight on: Jewish Family Education

Abstract

JESNA Spotlight papers are intended to provide funders and other community leaders with a brief overview of important areas in Jewish education. This paper covers Jewish educational activities that impact the entire family unit, since, as the authors note, children rarely view Jewish learning and practice as relevant or functional in their lives unless it is modeled in the home. Models and approaches discussed in the paper include parallel classes for parents, commercial and movement-based materials, community-wide "mega-events," family curricula, online resources, and others.
